[00:00:00] In today's episode, I'm excited to talk about going from zero to profit. I want to share some sales strategies to help registered dietitians grow a successful business. I'm also going to share how to do this using free AI tools, more specifically chat GPT. Now I know we talked about this in last week's episode, and I want to give you a few more examples of how we can use artificial intelligence.
[00:00:32] That's free, right? Cause not all. AI tools are free, but I want to talk specifically about using a free tool that's accessible to us dietitians to help us expedite the process of going from zero to profit. You might've heard that AI artificial intelligence, such as chat GPT, although there are many other types of AI tools are one of the biggest trends of 2023 and 2024.
[00:00:59] And so knowing [00:01:00] that. Chat GPT is taking over. The question includes how can we as registered dietitians improve our business skills using these free tools? And how can we stay relevant and make sure that we are growing our brand and also keeping up with the trends of technology to best serve our clients?
[00:01:21] So I want to first share that going from zero to profit is definitely possible. I can't promise the amount of time it will take you because each registered dietitian is different. Some of you, as you've heard from the hundreds of interviews we've had on this podcast from our clients, some of you will, you know, earn monies very fast and you can start your business and you can, you know, earn a profit Within a year or less and other of others of you might take a little bit longer and the reasons can include Depends on the level of priority that your business is to you You might also be working a nine to five you might [00:02:00] also be in school You might be parenting young children or taking care of your elderly family, or you might be traveling or moving So there's a lot of reasons why and how you earning and your earning potential can can vary You might also be earning money from other revenue streams, such as an insurance based practice, and you want to start to grow, let's say, your business through online telehealth, or maybe through digital products, like selling a membership and eBooks and guides.
[00:02:29] And so that process. Of growing your business from that revenue stream might look a little different because you're gonna have a different way of making sales than you have before using different marketing tactics, such as how you're able to land clients with insurance panels. So that's what we're gonna be talking about today, knowing that the strategies to go from zero to profit are different.
[00:02:51] So, okay, what does that look like? And how do we make that work in modern society with? Knowing that the way that we work and grow [00:03:00] our businesses has changed. It's disrupted. What first was the Internet and then it was social media and now it's artificial intelligence. So what hasn't changed? Is that you're going to have to build your brand identity now, if you're feeling scared about what that means, establishing a brand identity is a process.
[00:03:19] And it's something that every dietitian and business needs to do in order to stand out. So, your brand is what sets you apart from the competition and your brand attracts your ideal clients. So, the question is. Where do you start? So when it comes to your brand, what's important first is to think about who do you help, how do you help them, and why do you help them?
[00:03:45] And then the next question to ask yourself would be, well, who else is doing it and what can I offer that's a slightly unique perspective from somebody else? Because if there's a lot of people serving one particular audience, let's [00:04:00] say chronic disease, like kidney failure, The quote, which is a great problem to solve for, and it's a high demand and nutrition.
[00:04:08] The question includes what about your business is different or unique about the next persons in that same industry. And so those are questions that you need to ask yourself. And one of the easiest, fastest ways to learn that about your brand identity includes asking people in your audience what their struggles are.
[00:04:27] And if they've gotten help, and let's say that they've gone to resources, and they've gotten support before what's been lacking or missing and their attempts to solve that problem. And so brand identity is learning about your what problem you're solving and the solution that you offer and how you're unique and with time.
[00:04:45] Your brand identity is also shown through the colors that you use the visual representation, your logo, your personality, the words that you do and don't use. And some of these concepts with brand identity are a little higher [00:05:00] level. And I don't want you to get caught up in any of the aspects such as your logo and colors, because that can evolve.
[00:05:07] Ideally not, but it usually does what's the most important when it comes to brand identity. Hands down is making sure that you are actually solving a very big problem that people are willing to pay for. That's number one. And then number two would be, well, if it's a big problem, other people are probably solving it.
[00:05:24] So you need to ask yourself how your solution is unique from the next person's. And if you're thinking to me that this feels abstract. Because it can without some examples. I want you to go back and listen to the over two, three hundred podcast episodes that we've interviewed our current clients, our current and past clients.
[00:05:42] So you can hear their story of building their brand identity and what's helped make them unique and how they've been able to put their clients needs first and create a great experience for their customers while standing out and really creating, creating a thought leadership space for their niche, [00:06:00] right?
[00:06:00] Whether that's fertility, hypothalamic amenorrhea, diabetes, weight loss for management, sports performance, food, freedom, eating disorder, whatever the area is. It could be food sensitivity, food allergies, IBS, IBD. That's just the first piece. That's the first layer. The second layer includes learning about how your business and brand is different from the next person who's also solving for diabetes, et cetera.
[00:06:29] So the question would be, if we're talking about a sales strategy, well, Once you've landed on who you thought about your brand identity and who you're serving, what problem you're solving, I want you to go to chatgpt. com and all you have to do is add your email. It's a free tool. And I want you to start asking prompts such as what, what can I do?
[00:06:49] To make my brand unique as a, and then I want you to fill in the blank and say diabetes dietitian, or as an IBS dietitian, or you can ask more specifically and [00:07:00] say, the problem I solve is helping folks with diabetes, lower their a 1 C below 6. 5. And helping them with a you know, helping them follow the plate method.
[00:07:11] whAt is it that I could do to, to further enhance or differentiate how I position myself as a dietitian? So I want you to ask that to chat GPT and see what answers get generated. And that's going to help you build your sales strategy because your brand identity helps you communicate who you are, what you do and how you're different to prospects and potential clients.
[00:07:30] And the more data that you have. And that you've gathered from chat GPT, the more that you can differentiate and build your confidence. If you're looking for support with how to do that, and you want some help from me and my team, I want to invite you to join the library. That's our monthly membership found at dietitianboss.

So I do invite you to go to dietitianboss. com. All right. The second tip in terms of going from zero to profit with sales strategies would be to build relationships and trust.
[00:08:25] A lot of you get so excited with content and you want to create content that converts, or you want to create content that showcases your brand identity that you forget that a big part of business. Is building relationships and in order to build a relationship with people and with targeted people who might fit your demographic, or they might know people in your target audience.
[00:08:45] You're going to have to build trust by showing that you're someone of value to them and that you are someone that people can refer to. And so, after you've established your brand identity, or even tangentially while you're establishing your brand identity, it's [00:09:00] time to focus on building relationships.
[00:09:02] So I want you to think about your network of people where you live and people that, you know, it might be family and friends and people in your community peers and start having conversations with them. And start asking them if they know people that you can serve and if they do to connect you and start showing value and asking them.
[00:09:22] Hey, do you have any nutrition problems that I can help support through resources? Or is there anything that you're struggling with that I might be able to help you with? Or maybe you can introduce them to somebody. And so if you can let people that, you know, understand that their struggles are validated and that you can be a resource to them the best that you can ethically, then let them know that.
[00:09:45] And you'd be surprised that letting people understand that you're a resource for them can actually make them feel supported and they will have an easier, more seamless time recommending you to other people who are ready to buy. And this is a practice that you will [00:10:00] need to continuously adopt. As a business owner, if you want to go from 0 to profit, you're going to need to build relationships, not only in your community and with people that, you know, but also more specifically with people in your target audience.
[00:10:13] So, let's say that you're working with chronic disease, you're working with diabetes. I'm going to want to build relationships with people in the diabetic community. You're going to want to build relationships with practitioners that help people with diabetes. And you're also going to want to build relationships with organizations and associations, whether they're local chapters or national organizations.
[00:10:33] And so I want you, of course, this is going to depend on your specialty. And if you don't yet know your specialty, that's okay. But the more specific you can be with relationship building, the better. And if you're just starting out, then your relationships are probably going to be general nutrition and just asking people that, you know, what it is that you can help them with.
[00:10:52] Now, if you're looking to optimize this process of going from zero to profit and developing a sales strategy, I absolutely recommend [00:11:00] that you hop over to chat, GPT. And you type in a prompt that would say something such as, and you're going to have to customize this to your situation and say, let's enter in your network.
[00:11:10] Right? So let's say that, you know, people, I want you to think about, maybe, you know, people in church, maybe, you know, people in your community for sports, or maybe you have a lot of family friends and you want to say, based on X group of people and then fill it, fill out who that group of people are for you.
[00:11:23] And they typically have X type of problem, right? So, let's assume that a lot of them are asking you about chronic disease. Maybe they're not maybe they're asking you about allergies. So, whatever it is that they're asking you about fill that into the, the prompt that you're going to manually type into chat and then say, what can I do to add more value or give me 3 examples of what tactics.
[00:11:44] I can employ as a registered dietitian, trying to build better relationships and trust with this group of people. So I want you to ask chat GPT and see what outcome, right? You're going to generate from that input that I suggested. Now that that does what I, what I shared with you requires a lot of customization [00:12:00] because I want you to think about your network.
[00:12:03] In order to best get an answer from chat GPT, but that process of what I walked you through is what I want you to type into chat GPT. The next topic I want to share with you in the last topic would be to think about effective sales strategies. So if you want to go from zero to profit, maybe you're thinking that selling your services feels uncomfortable.
[00:12:25] That's the most common feedback I get. I actually just taught a lecture. And the professor told me the director of the dietetics program, because I taught the lecture at a university for dietetic students that were graduating and they said they felt really uncomfortable being in, you know, the, the space of nutrition and public health, and they felt conflicted with selling their service.
[00:12:48] And this is really normal that a lot of us feel conflicted. That, you know, it's bad to sell because we're in a helping profession and I, I know that therapists also feel this way too. [00:13:00] So we're not the only allied healthcare practitioners that feel uncomfortable selling. And I want you to know that it's really important for you to look within where you're at right now in order to grow.
[00:13:10] Your business. And in order to really grow your mindset, I want you to think about what your limiting beliefs are around sales, because we hear a dietitian boss believe that selling is serving. And so when you're able to transition your mindset and know that you selling is helping people, that will naturally help you feel more confident about developing an effective sales strategy.
[00:13:30] Additionally, if you're building relationships and you're prioritizing relationships over sales, that will help you build relationships as well. So knowing this. You will build a better mindset and an approach around sales that will come from a place of service and is genuine to your audience. And even your current clients, if you have them, their well being, right?
[00:13:53] So you want to start by clearly communicating the value and the benefits of what it is that you're doing and what it is that you're [00:14:00] selling, right? As you're building relationships, and you also want to paint a very vivid picture of how your expertise can transform people's lives. And what I want you to do is think about how do you verbally communicate your sales strategy?
[00:14:14] Do you right now have a pitch? Even if it's not formal or written, I want you to think about what are the words that you say when you explain what it is you sell or, or how you help people with nutrition. I want you to now write it down. Right? Even if it's just two sentences and you tell people I offer, you know, one off consults to help people lose weight, or I offer one off consults to help people with allergy management or diabetes, et cetera, I want you to write down what it is you've said before or what it is you want to say that would be called your pitch.
[00:14:44] And I want you to put that pitch into chat GPT, right? The free tool. And I want you to ask chat GPT to optimize that say, this is my current pitch of how I present myself to, to potential clients. What am I missing that I can still keep simple [00:15:00] and not long, but what am I missing to make my pitch more valuable and meaningful to develop a better sales strategy?
[00:15:08] And then when you get that response from chat GPT, if you don't like it, you can, you can ask chat GPT to customize that. You can say, actually make this more simple, or write this in a more friendly tone, right? So you can modify the outcome a bit if you'd like to see a different response. But I want you to start by thinking about what you say to people.
[00:15:29] Right. If you haven't said it yet, then I want you to make it up. I want you to write it down, and then I want you to type it into chat GPT and ask what's missing so that you can improve your existing sales strategy.
